New Emergency and Trauma Center at Ogden Regional Offers State-of-the-Art Care
Whether it’s an accident, chest pains or blurred vision; emergency medical situations are unexpected and urgent. In circumstances like these, quick action by specially-trained professionals can reduce injury and save lives.
The specialists in the emergency department (ED) at Ogden Regional Medical Center are among the most skilled in the area and committed to providing the highest-quality emergency care. They will be even better equipped to do so when the hospital’s state-of-the-art Emergency and Trauma Center opens its doors on June 1, 2007.
Ogden
Regional has invested $11 million into expanding and renovating its ED and Level
II Trauma Center. Having grown from 7,680 square feet to approximately 15,000
square feet, the center now offers 17 fully-equipped private patient rooms.
Deanna Wolfe, trauma program manager at the hospital, reports, “The new center is designed to help our medical staff provide the highest level of trauma care while increasing efficiency and decreasing response times.” She further notes, “We’ve also created a friendlier environment for our patients and their families; one that offers privacy and as much comfort as possible during their stay with us.”
Starting in June, patients who visit the center will benefit from multiple upgrades and improvements. Walk-in patients will come in through an entrance on the north side of the hospital after utilizing the expanded parking area. They will be greeted in the large triage room by experienced registered nurses (RNs), who are the first to see patients as they arrive at the center. The west side entrance is reserved for patients who arrive by ambulance. It is now taller and wider to make room for large fire engines and allow two emergency vehicles to park side by side. Both of the Emergency and Trauma Center entrances are covered and heated to keep paramedics, patients and staff warm and dry in inclement weather.
The entire department has been updated with state-of-the-art technologies including a command post in the center of every room that allows the medical staff to continuously monitor each patient’s status. Other upgrades include a voice-activated computer system, electronic patient charting program, automated electronic medication administration record (eMAR) system and advanced diagnostic equipment. Overall, these will help caregivers to improve efficiency and ensure patient safety.
Ogden Regional Medical Center is committed to meeting all of its patients’ healthcare needs by providing the highest level of care throughout the hospital. With the expansion and renovation of its Emergency and Trauma Center, the hospital’s experienced staff is fully-equipped and ready to promptly serve patients in need of urgent care.
